National days of the week 2/27 – 3/3

There is a national day each and every day of the year. Here are the national days of this week.

Monday: National Strawberry Day

There are over 600 varieties of strawberries and are grown in nearly every corner of the Earth. Strawberries are a good source of Vitamin C,  folic acid, fiber and potassium.

Tuesday: National Floral Design Day

Floral design is a multi-billion dollar industry. This day was created to celebrate a special birthday of Carl Rittner. In 1955, the Governor of Massachusetts proclaimed this day as National Floral Design Day.

Wednesday: National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day

Peanut butter has been sold since 1908. In World War ll, “monkey butter” was the  slang term for peanut butter. Elvis Presley loved the combination of bananas and peanut butter as a sandwich. Americans spend almost $800 million a year on peanut butter.

Thursday: National Banana Cream Pie Day

This is one of America’s favorite cream pies. Banana cream pie was ranked the number one favorite dessert among the soldiers of the United States Armed Services in the 1950’s.

Friday: National Anthem Day

The “Star Spangled Banner” was written by Francis Scott Key. This day commemorates the day our nation adopted “The Star Spangled Banner” as our National Anthem.
