Music can be a part of any occasion, and with Halloween coming up, who wouldn’t want some dark music to accompany them?

The following playlist showcases music that has dark and eerie undertones, or music that is too foreboding to ignore.

Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi’s Dead (1979)

Starting off with English band Bauhaus’ debut single, “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is based on Bela Lugosi, the actor who played Count Dracula in the 1931 film Dracula. This song refers to vampires, bats, death, and Bela Lugosi. The instrumental is eerie and atmospheric, and vocalist Peter Murphy’s reverberated vocals crawl throughout the song.

Lil B – Halloween H20 (2012)

Rap mogul-superstar Lil B released his mixtape “Halloween H20” in 2012 on Halloween. This mixtape features heavy, dark beats as well as lyrics describing crime, pain, life, and of course Halloween.

Christian Death – Only Theatre Of Pain (1982)

Band name: Christian Death. Album name: Only Theatre Of Pain. Is that not dark enough? Christian Death’s Only Theatre Of Pain album showcases arguably the most horror-themed lyrics and instrumentals of the 80’s. This band is even noted as being the harbinger of the genre “deathrock”.
