A Winter sport or winter activity is anything that is played on snow or ice. This upcoming Winter sports include such things as Ice skating,  Skiing,  Sledding, Snowboarding, Snowmobiling.

Snow and ice during the wintertime have led to other means of transportation, such as sleds, skis, and skates. This also led to different pastimes and sports being developed in the winter season as compared to other times of the year. Naturally, winter sports are more popular in countries with longer winter seasons.

Ice skating is the act of motion by the wearer of the ice skates to propel the participant across a sheet of ice. This can be done for a variety of reasons, including exercise, leisure, traveling, and various sports. Those who skate may be involved in figure skating, hockey, or speed skating.  Each takes special skills and training to become proficient at the sport.

Skiing can be a means of transport, a recreational activity or a competitive winter sport in which the participant uses skis to glide on snow.  Downhill skiing and cross country are the two main forms of skiing.

Sledding a worldwide winter activity, generally carried out in a prone or seated position on a vehicle generically known as a sled (North American),  or a sleigh.  Families will often bundle up, head for the hills, and enjoy a day of sledding down the hills.
