The Freshman Black football team defeated the Austin High School bulldogs Friday, August 30 in their season opener. The Longhorns won by a score of 27-0. Leading the shut-out for the Longhorns on defense were Brandon Greer with 2 sacks, Pierce Ortiz with a sack and Alex Fontenot with an interception returned for a touchdown. The offense was led by quarterback Trenton Harrell who rushed for two touchdowns. Samuel Barnes also added to the score by returning a punt for a touchdown. The kicking was handled by Sergio Martinez who kicked one extra point and rushed for one two-point conversion. The Longhorns continue their season next week, Thursday September 5, agaisnt Kingwood Park
