The official Star Wars episode seven “The Force Awakens” was released on November 28th. The new film is directed by J.J. Abrams and is a continuation of the previous saga. The new movie will hit the screens in December 2015. The movie will pick up where the sixth movie left off, maybe a few years after. Mark Hamil, the actor who played Luke Skywalker in the original series, will also be in the movie.

The official teaser features one of only a few black characters in the whole Star Wars series. The trailer also features the Millennium Falcon, a new droid, and a mysterious Sith Lord with a notable new light saber. The Sith Lord’s new light saber is red with two smaller light blades on the handle, contrary to the traditional which only has one long blade. The new droid is a rolling droid with a stationary head similar to an R-2 unit. The trailer also features a Princess Leia-like character who speeds away on a speeder. The trailer is set up into many different three to four second clips of different characters in different settings.

For those who have not seen or even heard of Star Wars: It is a science fiction cinema series that takes place “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…”. The theme of the series is the constant struggle between the Jedi and the Sith. The Jedi are a group of “chosen ones” who are incredibly talented in battle and wit. The Jedi are in a constant battle against the Sith, a group of “chosen ones” who are like the Jedi, but an evil version. The series took place a long time ago, but society is incredibly advanced in technology. The most famous features of the series includes light sabers, which is exactly what it sounds like, and Yoda (a little green alien).

There’s no doubt that this trailer has gotten many Star Wars fanatics excited about the new era sequel, including me. I guess we’ll just have to wait until next year to find out if the movie lives up to the hype.
