BASEBALL: The Longhorn Varsity baseball team lost 2 tough district games over the break despite stellar performances on the mound. A 1-2 loss to Angleton and 3-9 loss to Terry puts the team at 1-2 in district play. The Longhorns bounced back for a non-district game against Kinkaid this past Thursday and came away with a decisive 15-6 win. The 11-4 Longhorns will return to district play as they host Lamar Consolidated here at the Ranch on Tuesday at 7pm.

GOLF:  The Longhorn golf teams dominated the district preview held Monday at Fort Bend Country Club. Tenzin Palkyi won the individual title on the girls side by winning a sudden death playoff on the second playoff hole. Ashton Maughan finished 5th place overall and Katie Koerth tied for 10th. Arianna Selph finished 15th and Kate Weaver ended in 17th place. Chris Lopez won the individual boys title with an even par 71. Adam Garza-73 finished 3rd place, Marcus Lopez-76 4th place, Matthew Maier-76 5th place, Thomas Kuznar-76 6th place, John Hance-8th place 78, Jack Weaver-10th place 79. Altogether, Longhorns captured 16 of the top 20 spots in the tournament.

SOCCER:  The JV Boys closed out their season by defeating Terry’s JV 3-1 on Friday. 2 goals were scored by Mason Kennedy & 1 goal was scored by Alec Garcia. The JV’s victory ensured a first-place finish in the district for the team. The Varsity boys closed out their season with a 3-1 loss to Terry. The goal was scored by Freshman Erik Michel.

The girls soccer teams competed in their final district game on the Friday before Spring Break. The JV squad finished up their undefeated district season by defeating the Terry Lady Rangers 4-0. Emma Carlson led the offense by scoring 1 goal and having 1 assist. Noely Hernandez, Brittany Adase and Juliana Rios all scored one goal as well. Jessica Torres, Gabby Perez and Dany Torres all served up one assist each. They finished their season with a record of 11-2-1. Great job Longhorns. On senior night, where they honored their 12 seniors, the girls wrapped up a 3rd straight district tittle by defeating the Lady Rangers 7-0. Shreya Desai led the way scoring 4 goals, with Gabby Galvan, Taylor Rech and Tayler Jasek each adding 1 goal each. Jordan Shimaitis served up 4 assist with Michelle Mills and Kasey Davis each adding one. The Longhorns will start the State Playoffs on Thursday March 24th at 5:00pm when they take on FB Bush at Austin High school. Please come out and support your Longhorns!!

SOFTBALL:  The Varsity softball team defeated the Seven Lakes Spartans by a score of 5-1 last Friday before Spring Break. Offensively, the Longhorns combined for 7 hits. The Longhorns struck first when Kayte Martinez scored on a hit by Taylor Pesina in the bottom of the 1st. The Longhorns added 2 more in the 3rd on hits by London Diller and Taylor Pesina. A 3-0 lead became even greater with a hit in the 4th inning by Sydney Scott scoring Destiny Walker and Lily Pearson. The team opens district at home on Tuesday versus Foster.
