BASEBALL:  The Longhorn Varsity Baseball team defeated Terry last night by a score of 7-1. Josh Lapierre went 4 1/3 innings with 11 strikeouts and 1 hit. Cody Tiemann came in to get out of a bases loaded jam and Jake Zatopek closed out the last two innings. The Longhorns offense combined for 11 hits on the night including a Brad Armstrong 2 RBI double. Kyle Boudreaux, Joseph Menefee, and Lapierre each had multiple hits. The Longhorns take on the Lamar Mustangs this Friday at 7pm on the road.

GOLF:  The Longhorn golf teams dominated at the district golf tournament Monday and Tuesday claiming 15 of the 22 spots up for grabs for next week’s region tournament. Tenzin Palkyi claimed her second consecutive district title with rounds of 76-76. Ashton Maughan, Rae Gresso, Katie Koerth, Arianna Selph, and Kate Weaver rounded out the team that placed second and advanced to regionals. Zane Warren collected his second district title in a row with rounds of 70-68 making him 4 under par for the tournament. Marcus Lopez and Matthew Maier finished second and third respectively. The varsity A team ran away with the district title for the fourth year in a row shattering team score records with rounds of 291-287 which is 10 over par as a team. Chris Lopez, Adam Garza, Warren, Lopez, and Maier received the team golf medals. The varsity B team shot rounds of 315-313 to claim second and advance to regionals. Drew Hartman, Hunter Breeze, Jack Weaver, John Hance, and Thomas Kuznar will be making the B team’s third consecutive trip to regionals. Good luck next week!

LACROSSE:  The lacrosse team has lost their last 3 games against some established lacrosse programs.  Against Emery Weiner’s Varsity program, the final score was 6 to 11.  Reed Schnitiger had an outstanding game with 3 goals and 1 assist, Brayden Turner scored 2 goals, Coleton Stephenson (Needville HS) scored his first goal, Gavin Hunter had 2 assists, and Christian Bass with 1 assist. Against Westside’s Varsity program, the final score was 4 to 9.  Jackson DeFrayne and Reed Schnitiger each had 2 goals. Assists were made by Reed Schnitiger, Justus Williams, Christian Bass and Jacob Wheat.  Against, Stratford’s JV program, the final score was 6 to 8. Jackson DeFrayne scored 4 goals, Reed Schnitiger scored 1 goal and had 3 assists, Jacob Wheat scored 1 goal, Christian Bass had 2 assists.  Brayden Turner won 7 out of 10 Face Offs.  Their next games are this weekend – Saturday, HOME game, vs Katy; Sunday, vs Pearland, at Pearland.

SOCCER:   The Longhorn Soccer team played in the Area round of the State Playoffs on Friday night against Port Neches Groves. After finishing the game 0-0 and going into double overtime the girls lost to the Indians in Penalty Kicks. This ended the girls fantastic season with a record of 17-4-1. Thank you seniors for all you have done over the past 4 years.

SOFTBALL:  The Longhorns swept the Calhoun Lady Sandcrabs in Tuesday night’s softball action. The JV softball team won 17-4 and the Varsity team won 3-1. Offensive leaders for the JV team were Remme Loos, Kylie Kramr, and Lauren Burkett who all reached based multiple times during the game. For the Varsity team offensive hi-lights were: Kayte Martinez scored in the first inning, Jewelisa Zamora had a sac fly to right field in the sixth to score a run, and Kim Williams hit a homerun in the 7th inning. The team will start the second round of district on Friday at Foster.
