Remember The Fallen

By Bobby Luvender, Staff Writer

Fifteen years of mourning, 15 years of sorrow, 15 years since the lives of Americans were changed forever. This past Sunday, September 11, 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and more importantly the United States.

Four commercial airline planes were hijacked by Al Qaeda linked terrorist, crashing two in the World Trader Center (Twin Towers), one into the Pentagon, and a failed attempt at the White House, where the passengers took control of the plane and crashed into a field saving the lives of others, but taking their own in such a heroic act.

Nearly 3,000 lives were taken unexpectedly as well as about 400 heroes who lost their lives in their attempt at saving another’s.  The lasting effects of this single day in history are immense; the loss of a brother, sister, mother, father, and friends have left an cynical, unforgettable, and bitter taste for the American citizens every year on this date.

Those involved in such a horrific tragedy will never be forgotten, as every year we pay our respects and honor those men and women who lost their lives. May they Rest in Peace.
