Cheap Summer Activities

Summer time is upon us, and whether you are a student or an adult, I think it’s safe to say that we all enjoy having fun in the sun. But does it have to cost an arm and a leg? Of course not! Not only are there things to do around town that are easy on the wallet, but there are activities that are absolutely free!  Now doesn’t that just make cents?

The Miller Outdoor Theatre is Houston’s leading theater for performing arts. With events ranging from symphony performances to Shakespeare’s plays, there are shows guaranteed for everyone’s enjoyment. While some shows require assigned seating tickets, all performances are free from March to October. Relax under the stars on the hillside or in the covered seating and enjoy the free show.

Discovery Green is Houston’s downtown 12-acre park designed to allow Houstonians of all ages enjoy nature. The tree-shaded jogging trails, dog runs and premiere dining restaurants are sure to keep you having fun in the sun for hours.

The Kemah Boardwalk is located 20 miles outside of Houston. Though a little far, the view is totally worth the drive. Kemah offers a few restaurants shore side, but the main attraction is the amusement park. For just $20, you can ride all the rides on the boardwalk to your heart’s desire for the whole day.

Rich’s Teen Nights are perfect for those who love to dance. This “Teen Club” is in Houston and with only a $10 cover charge, you can have some fun with your friends to the best songs of 2012 and 2013. Teen Night is open every Sunday throughout summer and is just a TEEN NIGHT- you must be eighteen or under to enter. Alcohol and other unfriendly substances are strictly prohibited.
