Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, then you know about the highly anticipated final film in the Avengers franchise. You’re one of 3 types of people; a super-fan who bought tickets way ahead of time online., a person who has no interest in superheroes or Marvel, so you’ve never seen any of the movies,  or you’re like me, a fan of the Avengers movies but aren’t going to see the movie right away. You know why that is? Because the theaters have been jam-packed with Avengers fans gathering to watch the many showings being played in theaters.

On their opening weekend, Avengers: Endgame has earned an astonishing 1.2 billion, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens previous opening weekend record of $300 million. This is one of several Marvel movies to cross the billion dollar mark, but none have passed it as quickly as Endgame has.

Endgame is the last installment in a long series of Marvel movies spanning from 2008 to 2019. Throughout the past 11 years, Marvel has given fans many great movies about an assortment of different superheroes such as Iron Man, Captain America, and Ant-man. Each movie tells a different story, but they’re all connected into one over-arching plot line. In Endgame, all the heroes must team up to defeat the powerful Thanos, who holds all the infinity stones.

It’s no surprise that the popular film series earned such a high amount of money during the opening weekend. With a wide assortment of heroes that anyone can relate to, it’s no wonder Marvel has such a big fanbase.
