Coronavirus Outbreak Now Spreads Globally

Death toll is at an all time high in Wuhan, China due to the Coronavirus that has now spread globally.

The Coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China from a Huanan seafood wholesale market.  It effected 11 million people in just December in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Taiwan alone and has now spread to the United States. As of this week there has been 5 confirmed cases on U.S. soil: 2 in California, 1 in Washington, 1 in Illinois, and another in Arizona. Over 100 people have been tested  across 26 states. The virus as now been confirmed in Italy when 2 Chinese tourists brought it over. The country has now declared a state of emergency. As a result, Italy’s government has sent medical supplies to prevent the spread further as well as allocating $5,500 for any virus related emergencies.

The Coronavirus is has 7 different strains, some including SARS, MERS, and even pneumonia, that cause a wide variety of flu-like symptoms: runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever. Because the virus is easily spread from person to person, according to NBC, the incubation period is 14 days if you are infected or around anyone that has been infected. ‘Regeneron’, the company that found the Ebola cure, is currently researching for treatments. However, as of right now, there is no treatment to the disease.
