The Oscars is an award show used to recognize actors, actresses, film directors, films, design, and everything that makes film-making possible. This year’s 2021 Oscars did not go as planned, but there were loads of good moments to remember.

Big Moments, Good and Bad, at the Oscars:

  1. Chloe Zhao was the second woman and first person of color to win Best Director for her film Nomadland. She also won Best Picture for the same film.
  2. There was confusion at the end of the Oscars when Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor over Chadwick Boseman. However, Hopkins was not present to receive his award. This led to an unsatisfying ending to the Oscars, where Questlove gave a final speech and the award show ended.
  3. Glenn Close danced to “Da Butt” song during Lil Rel Howery’s skit. This got tons of positive social media recognition.
  4. Youn Yuh-Jung won Best Actress in a Supporting Role, becoming the first Korean actress to win an Oscar. This was also her first Oscar award.
