Howdy Longhorns! Welcome back to the Longhorns Sports Report. This past week we had nail biters, rivalries, you name it!

Starting with Longhorns Football. George Ranch defeated FB Bush in overtime when Deion Drinkard (JR) hit Gregor Jones (SR) in the corner of the endzone for a final score, and a 20-17 GE win. Drinkard went 5-14 in the air for 91 yards. He threw two touchdowns along with two picks. Hayden Drinkard and Jaden Shelton split carries with Hayden recording his first touchdown of his Varsity career. Deion Drinkard also added eight rushes of his own as well. Along with Gregor’s game winning touchdown Shelton had the other receiving touchdown on the day. The defense won the game for the ‘Horns holding Bush to 17 points. Chase Adams continues to rack up his sacks, adding another one to his tally. The Longhorns take on newly promoted FB Hightower Friday, October 14th, at Traylor stadium. With this being our final home game, we will send off our senior players. Whiteout those stands on Friday night.

Varsity Volleyball had a rough night last Friday as they dropped all 3 sets resulting in a loss against Ridge Point. The lady longhorns record drops to 26-13 overall and 8-4 in 20-6a play. They look to break this 2-game skid against FB Hightower on Friday, October 14th, at Hightower High School.

Longhorn Tennis beat Foster 16-3 to advance to the second round of the playoffs. In said second round they will take on Tomball High School Tuesday, October 11th, at 4 PM. We wish good luck to our Longhorn Tennis players as they look to make a deep run in the 2022 playoffs.

Longhorn Boys and Girls XC are gearing up for the 2022 20-6a District Playoffs which start Thursday, October 13th, at Sugarland Memorial Park. Both squads look to place well enough to advance to regionals this weekend. We wish good luck to all runners participating this Thursday!

The Inaugural Water Polo season here at the Ranch has been nothing but a success. Coach Fontenot’s Varsity squad has made it to the 20-6a playoffs and take on Ridge Point High School in the first round Tuesday, October 11th, at the LCISD Natatorium. If you plan on attending, wear Safari as we continue to hunt those panthers.

There have been a lot of big match ups this past week and a lot more to look forward to next week right here on the Longhorn Sports Report.
