Howdy Longhorns! Welcome to the second semester of the 2022-23 School Year.  This semester can be even better than the fall, as there are many highly anticipated seasons to be played. But for now, we will wrap up everything we missed over break.

Coach Henry’s Boys Basketball squad has gone 2-5 since we last wrote including heart-breaking losses in district play.  Most notably, a 45-42 loss to rivals Ridge Point High School.  The ‘Horns have opened up district play 0-5 but have shown flashes of improvement as their have been extremely close games.  The ‘Horns picked up two Tournament wins over Cypress Park and Kingwood.  The Longhorns start off the second semester with a District matchup against a 12-7 FB Elkins High School on Friday, January 6th.

Coach Trotter’s Girls Basketball team has played to a 9-7 record since we last wrote,  with a solid 4-3 20-6A district record. The Lady Longhorns most impressive win this break was 68-52 District win over FB Dulles. Lady Longhorns lost their most recent game 59-51 against a great Westside High School squad in a non-district matchup. They pick up the second semester with a Home District matchup against FB Elkins on January 6th

Boys Soccer look to repeat after making the UIL Playoffs last year for the first time in school history.  After two scrimmages, the Longhorns played their first official match against Terry High School. The Longhorns unfortunately dropped this game 3-1. The Longhorns travel to Jordan High School on Friday to face the first of three opponents in the weekend long tournament. They face Tompkins High School on Thursday, Scarborough High School on Friday, and finishing the Tournament with O’Connor High School on Saturday.

Lady Longhorn Soccer started the 2023 season with a 1-0 non-District win over Lamar High School. The Lady Longhorns look to avenge their loss on Penalties against Tompkins High School in last year’s first round of the playoffs when they take on the Falcons on January 5th to kick-off the Weekend Tournament.

We wish you all a Happy New Years and good luck to all our athletes performing this weekend.
