Girls’ Varsity Track and Field

The Girls’ Varsity track team competed at the Conroe Oakridge War Eagle Invite and earned an overall team finish of 2nd place.

Leading off the scoring in field events was Caitlin Tran vaulting to a season and personal best of 9 feet and placing 3rd overall in girls pole vault.

In high jump, Samantha Chartier placed 3rd and leaped to 5 feet tying her personal best and school record she set last year in 2014. Clair Campbell placed 6th overall and set a personal best in high jump as well leaping to 4 feet 8 inches.

In Long Jump Geordann Yelder placed 4th jumping a personal and season best of 16 feet 11 inches. Lisa Egege placed 4th in the girls triple jump with a jump of 34 feet 9 inches.

Leading off into the running events the shuttle hurdle relay placed 2nd with Brianna Franklin, Abisola Anifowoshe, Alexis Thomas and Dominique Jean Batiste. The sprint medley relay placed second with Kandice Miles, Chigozie Ogbonna, Lily Egege and Linda Etufugh.

The girls Distance Medley placed 3rd with Parker McCarley, Alexis Aikens, Destiny Rutherford and Theresa McComiskey. Theresa McComisky also represented distance well in the girls 3200 meters placing 3rd overall.

The girls 4×100 relay placed 3rd overall and broke the school record set in 2012. Jazmyne Tiflord Rutherford, Chidube Ogbonna, Destiny Rutherford and Lisa Egege contributed to that record breaking time. Lily Egege placed 6th in the girls 800 running it for the first time ever.

The girls 4×200 meter relay placed first overall with Destiny Rutherford, Kandice Miles, Chidube Ogbonna and Geordann Yelder.

In the girls 400 meter run, Chigozie Ogbonna ran a season best and placed second and Jazmyne Tilford Rutherford placed 4th overall. Lisa Egege killed the 200 meter competition placing 1st overall with Geordan Yelder placing 3rd overall.

The top 5 state ranked girls 4×400 meter relay won in true fashion with Jazmyne Tilford-Rutherford, Lisa Egege Geordann Yelder and Chigozie Ogbonna.
