A shooting occurred at Canada’s House of Commons, in Ottawa, Ontario on Wednesday, October 22. A soldier standing guard outside the building was killed on sight, while an unsuspecting gunman stormed inside. Vickers, sergeant-at-arms of the House of Commons, fired at the man killing him instantly, though it was too late to save his fellow partner. Vickers was honored on Thursday for his heroic effort, though he demonstrated no sense of pride, but sorrow for the loss of his friend.
