Howdy Longhorns! Welcome back to the Spring Longhorn Sports Report. Today we have some thrilling comebacks and some district openers. 

Starting with Baseball, Coach Kobzas Varsity side defeated FB Clements in the 2023 20-6a opening game 7-2. Longhorns First Baseman high lighted the night with a solo blast in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game at 2. The Longhorns would rally in the 6th and 7th innings, scoring three in the sixth and two in the 7th. The Longhorns also hosted the LCISD Tournament going two and three in their five games. The Longhorns beat Cy-Ridge 9-4 and Paetow 11-1. The boys participate in the Big Cat Tournament in Katy, TX as they take on Montgomery, Tomball Memorial, Magnolia, Tomball, and Cy- Ridge in order from Thursday through Saturday. The Longhorns host FB Austin for their first home district game Tuesday, March 14th, at Longhorn Field. 

Lady Longhorn Softball lost the home leg of their rivalry matchup against FB Ridge Point 13-3. Kate Dolan drove in two for Coach Witts side and Mariah Garner drove in the third on this rough night for the Lady Longhorns. They bounced back, thrashing FB Bush 17-0 bringing their 20-6a record to 3-2 early on in the season. Kate Dolan and Macie Burks had two homeruns against the Broncos with Karlauhn Deas knocked one out the park herself as well. The Ladies will face FB Hightower, FB Dulles, and FB Elkins on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday in order.  

Boys Longhorn Soccer came back in thrilling fashion to secure a spot in the 6A Texas State playoffs against FB Dulles. After trailing 2-1 going into halftime, the ‘Horns lit up the scoreboard scoring five in the half and winning 6-2. The Longhorns also defeated FB Hightower 2-1 to bring the Longhorns overall record to 11-8-3 and 20-6a record to 8-4-3. These records clinch a spot in the UIL State 6A playoffs for the second year in a row. The boys take on FB Elkins at home on Friday, March 10th, for their last District game of the 2023 campaign. Congratulations to them! 

Lady Longhorns Soccer extended their streak to three in a row after thrashing bot FB Hightower and FB Dulles 7-0 and 6-0 in order. The Lady Longhorns have clinched UIL 6A State Playoffs as well thanks to these results. Their record stands at 12-6-4 and 9-3-3 in 20-6a going into their last District game against FB Elkins at Elkins High School on March 10th.
