Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town was released on October 17, 2019, by Marvelous Inc. and XSEED Games. Story of Season: FoMT is a remake of the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral. After your grandfather dies, you inherit a farm that you now have to take care of. You get to explore a small town in the country that meets the sea with lush forest to forage in, and if you’re lucky, you will see an animal or two. The game also revived old characters with new looks. They bring back fan favorites, like Daughter of the poultry farm Popuri, and they travel from another island – Kai.

In Story of Season: FoMT, your goal is to expand your farm with the money you earn. How do you earn money? You can grow crops in the four different seasons. Buy animals to raise and sell products such as: milk, eggs, wool, and lots more. You can also try your hand at fishing and mining to earn a little extra cash. While caring for your farm, you are also able to get married to 16 different bachelorettes and bachelors. You also have the opportunity to reconnect the town with nature by befriending mysterious little friends.

The game excels in its storytelling abilities. The story line in Story of Season:FoMT can go in many different directions depending on what choices you make. Whether it’s a choice of playing as a female or male character or picking which spouse you would like to marry, you can decide it all. Explore which means of production fits you best. Whether you prefer raising a lot of animals or you have a green thumb and like growing crops, you can expand your farm in whichever way fits your playing style best.

This game has many strong points, but the one thing I think could be improved is the forest you are able to explore. Having a little bit more of a forest or wild area to forge and explore could really elevate the gaming experience, and embrace the small town aesthetic.

Overall, I think Story of Season: FoMT is a good adventure life simulation game. It’s a very easy play, and you can really fall into the storyline. I highly recommended Story of Season: Friends of Mineral Town to the new gamer, and the experienced gamer looking for an easy going play.
