George Ranch’s 3-D printer
George Ranch now has a 3-D printer. The printer is used by the engineering department for projects. The new printers materials are fairly expensive, so the printer is not often used. The 3-D printer uses plastic to produce 3-D objects designed by engineers. The printer costs well over $1,000 and the material costs about $5 per square inch.
The engineering department hooks up their laptops to design their plastic masterpieces, then the printer will take anywhere from 3 hours to about 6 days to print. The 3-D printing industry itself is making huge strides in technology. 3-D printers are even printing houses at a large scale. The printer is mainly used for prototypes the students design themselves.
We will start to see more and more technological advances on this subject in the future. Stay tuned.
